Thanks to Dacia, Scouts set sail on an unforgettable adventure
Thanks to the support of the Dacia Outdoor Adventure Fund, the 15th Romsey (North Baddesley) Scout Group embarked on an incredible offshore sailing adventure, something that would’ve been out of reach for many of the Scouts without this vital funding.
With the help of the Dacia Grant and the Rona Trust, 14 Scouts set sail for a weekend aboard the 68-foot SY Rona II, an impressive vessel operated by the Rona Sailing Project.
This wasn’t just a leisurely trip – it was an immersive, hands-on experience where the Scouts took responsibility for every aspect over the two days.
From hoisting the enormous main sail (a six-person job!) to navigation, engine maintenance and cooking, the weekend pushed them out of their comfort zones and into a world of teamwork and adventure.
“The impact of this trip was brilliant. The Troop came away with a stronger bond, a newfound sense of resilience, and skills that’ll last a lifetime. We want to say a massive thank you to Dacia for making this possible for 15th Romsey Scouts. They’re already looking forward to their next big challenge – one that, thanks to this support, they now have the confidence to take on.”

Without Dacia’s support, this experience simply wouldn’t have been possible. Many families wouldn’t have been able to facilitate such an opportunity for their children, making this funding absolutely essential in opening doors that would otherwise remain closed. These young people were able to build confidence, develop essential life skills, and strengthen their teamwork – qualities that’ll benefit them far beyond this trip.
