Explorers are a friendly, supportive group of young people aged 14–18 who look out for each other and make big memories together. It’s a place where you can find your people – the ones you laugh with on late-night campfires, who cheer you on when you try something new, and who stick by you when life gets complicated.
You’ll have the chance to shape what you do as a unit. Whether you’re planning a camp, learning a new skill, exploring somewhere new, or just hanging out – Explorers is about spending time with others, growing in confidence, and feeling like you belong.
Being an Explorer is about doing things together — figuring stuff out side by side, giving things a go even when you’re not sure how, and learning as you go. Some weeks are chilled, some weeks are wild, and most weeks you’ll leave with a story worth telling.
Explorers try things together and build confidence one step at a time. You don’t need to be the loudest, the most experienced, or the most confident to get stuck in. You’ll learn how to work as a team, support each other, and take pride in what you accomplish — whether that’s cooking your first meal over a fire, planning part of an expedition, or leading a game for younger Scouts.
Explorers regularly run local weekend camps, multi-day expeditions and overseas trips. Leaders and adults ensure risk assessments, safety training and appropriate supervision are in place.
Do I need experience? No — activities are taught and supervised. Leaders adapt to different skill levels.
What do I need to bring? Basic outdoor kit for local events; leaders will send packing lists for camps and expeditions.
An explorer, adventurer and TV presenter, Dwayne's been seen in BAFTA nominated Channel 5 series Race to the Pole, on BBC Springwatch, Countryfile, National Geographic and Disney+.
